321 Stainless Steel

321 stainless steel is an austenitic grade stabilized with titanium, which prevents carbide precipitation during welding and extended high-temperature service. This stabilization allows 321 to operate at temperatures up to 900°C, compared to approximately 500°C for standard 304. The alloy offers excellent forming and welding characteristics, making it a preferred choice for exhaust manifolds, expansion joints, bellows, and other components exposed to sustained heat. Tailwind stocks 321 stainless steel sheet and plate certified to AMS 5510 and AMS-QQ-A-770, along with 321 bar to ASTM A276, ASTM A479, and AMS 5645. 304/304L Stainless Steel

304/304L is the most versatile and widely specified austenitic stainless steel. It delivers excellent corrosion resistance in atmospheric and mildly chemical environments, and the low-carbon "L" variant minimizes the risk of intergranular corrosion after welding. Tailwind supplies 304 stainless steel sheet and plate to AMS 5513, AMS 5511, and AMS-QQ-A-769, as well as 304/304L bar to ASTM A276, AMS 5639, AMS 5647, and AMS-QQ-S-763.

 

316/316L Stainless Steel

316/316L contains higher nickel and added molybdenum compared to 304, giving it improved corrosion resistance in marine, chemical, and chloride-rich environments. This makes 316 stainless steel sheet and plate a standard material for pharmaceutical, food processing, and petrochemical equipment. Tailwind stocks 316/316L sheet and plate to AMS 5524 and AMS-QQ-S-769, and 316/316L bar to ASTM A276, AMS 5648, AMS 5653, and AMS-QQ-S-763.
