Inconel 625: Sheets, Plates & Bars
Inconel 625 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum superalloy recognized for its combination of high strength, outstanding corrosion resistance, and excellent weldability, without requiring a strengthening heat treatment. It maintains mechanical integrity across a wide service temperature range, from cryogenic conditions up to 1800°F (982°C), making it one of the most versatile alloys in the nickel family.
Tailwind Aerospace Solutions supplies Inconel 625 bar and sheet to AMS specifications, with full certifications and material traceability for aerospace, chemical processing, marine, and energy applications. View our current stocked forms on our Other Metals product page.
Material Properties
The strength of Inconel 625 comes from solid solution strengthening. The addition of molybdenum and niobium stiffens the alloy matrix, delivering high tensile and fatigue strength without the need for precipitation hardening. The result is a material that is significantly easier to fabricate and weld than age-hardened alloys, while still performing in severely corrosive environments.
Due to its high nickel content, Inconel 625 is highly resistant to chloride ion stress-corrosion cracking and pitting, a critical property for seawater, marine, and offshore applications. It also resists a wide range of organic and mineral acids, making it well-suited to chemical processing equipment and pollution control systems.
Specifications
Inconel 625 is available to the following AMS specifications:
- AMS5599 — Sheet, strip, and plate
- AMS5666 — Bar, wire, and forgings
Additional applicable specifications include ASTM B443 (sheet and plate) and ASTM B446 (bar). All material ships with full mill certifications traceable to heat and lot, backed by our AS9100D and ISO 9001 certified quality system.
Inconel 625 Bar
Inconel 625 bar to AMS5666 is used in machined components, fasteners, fittings, and structural parts where corrosion resistance and fabricability are both required. It is commonly specified in offshore oil and gas hardware, marine shafting, and chemical processing equipment. We stock round bar in a range of diameters to support standard and custom requirements.
Inconel 625 Sheet
Inconel 625 sheet to AMS5599 is used in heat shields, combustion liners, exhaust systems, and fabricated structures requiring thin-gauge, corrosion-resistant material. Its excellent weldability also makes it a preferred choice for weld overlay cladding on boiler tubes and petrochemical equipment.
