Properties and Performance
7050 is a zinc-copper-magnesium-zirconium alloy developed specifically for aerospace structural applications in the 3- to 6-inch thickness range and beyond. Its reduced quench sensitivity is the key advantage over 7075. This property allows 7050 to maintain high strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance in heavy cross sections where other 7xxx series alloys would experience property loss.
The T7451 temper (formerly designated T73651) provides an optimized balance of strength, stress corrosion cracking resistance, and exfoliation corrosion resistance. The T7651 temper combines the highest available strength with good exfoliation resistance and moderate stress corrosion cracking resistance.

AMS4050 is the most widely called-out specification for this alloy, though many OEMs maintain proprietary specifications that our material also satisfies. Common Applications
7050 aluminum plate is used in wing skins, fuselage frames, bulkheads, and other structural components on commercial and military aircraft. Its retention of mechanical properties in thick sections makes it the standard material for machined monolithic structural parts produced from heavy plate. The alloy also serves in spacecraft and launch vehicle structures.
